Each year we have a unique opportunity to enjoy the spring ptarmigan hunt in Interior Alaska. We harvest both rock and willow ptarmigan and enjoy the return of long sunny days to the far north. We offer day trips from Fairbanks during the entire month of April.
We depart from Fairbanks before sunrise to enjoy a day full of beautiful scenerey and high action hunting in the mountains. We return to town by 4pm, at which point you can enjoy the local life in the Golden Heart City. If you are from out of town we will be happy to assist you in arranging other tours and attractions, such as Chena Hot Springs, the Ice Hotel, or dog sledding.
During most of April, the birds are in their winter white phase, but if you want a true ptarmigan trophy, join us on the final days of the season where we hunt spring phase ptarmigan. These birds have gone into breeding plumage with brown heads and white bodies, the opposite of their classic fall colors.
